We now officially only have 1 more project inside our house. The past 2 weeks have given us time to completely redo our kitchen. We painted our cabinets. They were an oak wood and we painted them a cream/off white color and I am going to antique them tomorrow or Saturday. I was really nervous they would look cheaply done or even worse...homemade. Maybe they do but I don't feel like they do and was VERY happy with the turn out. We then decided we couldn't wait to redo our counter tops due to the fact that they were a stark white and next to the off white cabinets it just didn't work. So yesterday we got new counters thanks to amazingly great friends, Kirk and Cam and the family business. After those went in, we were going to wait to upgrade the last 3 of our appliances. If no one remembers, last year we had a really interesting and stressful experience getting a new fridge when redoing our floors. So we needed to update the stove, dishwasher and microwave and get the microwave mounted above the stove. So yesterday we decided now is as good of a time as any to just get it done. I went to RC Willey last night with my mom and picked out new stuff. Our kitchen will be ALL the way done tonight other than antiquing the cabinets and I want my mom to help me make a valance for the bay window in the kitchen. The last project that we have inside of the house before it is completely done is painting our extremely nasty guest bathroom. It is a lilac purple. We have lived with it since we moved there and just made it work but since the whole house is now updated, why not finish the ugly bathroom?!? I just haven't decided what the heck to do with it.
Now we are trying to decide if we should do our backyard too in the fall. We killed it last year with all intentions to get it done this spring but decided to do the kitchen instead. If we are smart we should be able to do the backyard the way we want it between August and September. We will see. It would be SO nice to have a deck that is big enough to BBQ on and make it so that we could plant a garden next year and buy a shed. Life is treating us fairly well these days. Jeff is back in school with one class on Wednesday. I have been working quite a bit lately but it should slow down for the next 3 weeks. Then picks up again this summer in random spurts. I am a little overwhelmed by being called to be the young women camp director. I have some ideas but putting those into action will be the hardest part. I am excited to get to know the girls and have fun with the awesome advisers that are all ready in y.w. I also don't want to get into the details but just feel like saying that I have a new respect for women who have serious fertility issues. I am not sure I fall into that category quite yet but I am getting my small experiences with this and it truly is a HUGE trial. We should be approaching having a 1 year old baby boy this June and we are still not even slightly closer to being parents. I also understand that I really have no reason to complain because we live an amazing life and have such great family and support from those friends and family that are close to us. I try to be optimistic about all of it and not sound like I am sulking. Nothing gets resolved by doing that. I do get a little envious when certain people have kids but they are few and far between and even that, I understand is completely my problem. We are truly blessed and will continue to play and travel and spend money on our house until we love it even more. I know with all of my heart that we will get a turn and we will value our turn that much more because of these experiences. That is about all there is. I really wish spring would make an appearance longer than 5 days at a time. It is going straight from winter to summer. That is lame. :)
