Run, Run and Run some more...
I posted about Ragnar all ready but since this is practically my journal I am going to post again about running. I have been running steadily for a month now. I am up to about an average of 5 mile runs and then a few long ones here and there. Tonight I ran 6.75 and last week 5.86 were my longest. I have a huge IT band issue. The IT band is apparently a muscle that runs from your butt down under your knee cap. It has been bugging me for about 2 weeks. Sometimes way more than others. I thought it would be gone by now but alas it isn't. I am still waiting for the "love" of running everyone talks about to come. I am getting excited about the transition I can tell my body is making. It feels good to be making a solid effort to get in shape. I have neglected my body for so long and just stopped caring when I got married. I never believed people when they told me that some day my metabolism would catch up to me and I couldn't eat everything I wanted. Well that day arrived right after I got married. I didn't grow up in a healthy household of eating or exercise habits so I am learning. I am really starting to think I will train for a half marathon. I never care to run a full but a half sounds attainable. I hate that guys can just pick something up and "run" with it. Jeff can now run 9-10 miles without stopping once and running a 8:30-9:00 minute miles. He has been running for 2 weeks. I have been going for a month and die after about 6 miles. I also run between 11:30-12:00 minute miles. Oh well. I guess I have to start somewhere. Here is to hoping I continue to work at this.
